Asthma Educator's Institute
The Asthma Educator Institute is designed for the Health Care Professional who provides asthma education to individuals living with asthma. The program provides the necessary knowledge base of asthma with the emphasis on techniques and practical application skills in delivering asthma education to patients.
Nationally, the American Lung Association and the American Thoracic Society have recognized the need for standardized training and quality assurance of asthma educators. The National Asthma Educator Certification Board (NAECB) has created and began implementation of a national certification exam in October, 2002.

The scheduled topics for the seminar are as follows: Asthma & Education Principles, Outcomes Evaluation, Assessment and Diagnosis of Asthma, Pharmacological Therapy, Enviornmental Control, Managing and Monitoring Asthma, Education Theory, Case Studies and Group Discussion, Skills Lab, Peak Flow Monitoring, Medications and Devices, Asthma Action Plans
Attendance is required both days. Class size is limited to 45 participants.
