The Butterfly Ball will honor Nancy M. Schlichting, President and CEO of Henry Ford Health System (HFHS), a leader in the fight against lung disease. Through Schlichting's leadership, HFHS has established a smoke free campus, supported smoking cessation programs for HFHS associates and has provided longtime support for lung disease research and community outreach.

The Butterfly Ball raises funds for lung health research, education and advocacy; to carry out the mission of the American Lung Association of Michigan: to prevent lung disease and promote lung health.

Currently 1.3 million Michigan residents are living with life-threatening lung diseases. More than 900,000 suffer from asthma and nearly 500,000 have been diagnosed with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, including Chronic Bronchitis and Emphysema).

More than 500 attendees are expected from business/industry, the media, philanthropy, government and the general community.
