Freedom From Smoking
Freedom From Smoking, or FFS for short, is the American Lung Association's Gold-Standard smoking cessation program.
The program consists of eight group sessions. Because the group meets twice on the fourth week, it meets for a total of 7 weeks. Each session runs from 90 minutes to 2 hours long, depending on the size of the group.
In clinical research, 51% of the smokers who attended FFS were successful in quitting smoking*. This rate is much higher than the quite rates of other quit smoking methods: 30% success with Zyban, 16% success with nicotine patches, only 5% success going "cold turkey" without behavioral therapy.
