Who Should Attend

Individuals who have the responsibility to counsel and provide instructions to asthmatic patients are candidates for this seminar. The purpose of the seminar is to establish a uniform education model for assisting asthmatic patients learn how to take their medications, reduce their risks to asthma episodes, and to improve their quality of life.

A national asthma certification program is now available to credential health care providers as asthma educators. National certification as an asthma educator (AE-C) will be the first requirement in getting patient asthma education reimbursed. This course helps prepare the participant for the national asthma educator certification process.
 

The course is intended to standardize the educational objectives and practices of physicians and patient educators in the field of asthma. It is designed to improve patient educator understanding and skills; thereby enhancing the knowledge and ability of ashma patients to manage their disease. A final examination is included to determine the level of knowledge and ability gained from this course. A certificate of completion will be issued to each person who completes all the lessons and scores sufficiently high on the post test.
