Blow the Whistle on Asthma Walk
Millennium Park, Grand Rapids

Saturday, May 6, 2006

Event Goal: $30,000

The "Blow the Whistle on Asthma" Walk doesn't just raise money for the American Lung Association's research, education and advocacy initiatives. This walk offers hope to those currently battling this chronic disease and celebrates those who are successfully managing it.

For too long asthma has been looked at as something that "we just have to deal with." With an estimated 4.8 million children struggling to breathe every day because of this debilitating disease, now is the time to take charge and blow the whistle on asthma.

Across the country over 20 million Americans currently have asthma, of which close to 12 million have had an asthma attack in the past year. Asthma is responsible for more lost school days by children than any other chronic disease and even more frightening is the 55% increase in the death rate from asthma over the last 20 years.

Whether you are someone living with asthma or a supporter of our cause, please join us on May 6, 2006 for our nationwide effort to find a cure. If you are interested in getting involved, and have not yet signed up, please click on the Register to Walk link on the left-hand toolbar. Once you sign up, be sure to customize your personal page, and start getting support for yourself or your team by e-mailing friends, family and co-workers through the Tell-A-Friend link. You'll be amazed at the support you can gather overnight!
