CLIMB
  • Climbers climb up the stair well 50 floors (1150 steps) to the top
  • Climb as an individual, a family or corporate team (at least 5 people)
  • Climbers can be athletes or amateurs who race or walk up the stairs
  • Climb is chip timed with interval starts of 10 seconds. Fastest racers go first according to their 5K run times. (Slower climbers on left, passing allowed)
  • Fitness Training program & tips available online
  • Water, EMS, & rest stations are available
  • Prizes: All climbers receive a t-shirt. Race winners receive commemorative medals and prizes



Registration Categories
Participants
Climbers should register as a "Participant."
Students, police, and military choose the corresponding category.
Firefighters should select "Firefighter Challenge."
Virtual Climbers
Virtual Climbers do not climb on event day, but can attend the event exposition and awards ceremony. They can pick up their t-shirt and food/water at the check-in area.
Teams
Teams of family, friends and co-workers are encouraged. They can climb individually or together as a team. A team must consist of at least 5 people. A Team Captain must register first to create the team before other team members can register online.
*NEW* Collegiate Challenge
New for 2009 is the Collegiate Challenge! Bring your competitive school spirit to the climb and compete for the ultimate bragging rights. This special category allows you to compete with fellow alumni or unite as a conference to form a team.  Bring your competitive rivalries and come prepared to prove which school or conference really is the best.
Teams must be comprised of at least 5 participants and should be designated as a team upon registrations.
 
Firefighter Challenge
Climb Atlanta has a special category for firefighters and other first responders who can use this challenge as a training exercise or to encourage fitness among their department. If a department climbs as a team, it must consist of at least five people. Fire Fighter Challengers must wear the full envelope or bunker gear which includes: helmet, coat, pants, boots, gloves, liner (NO SCBA tanks/air packs or tools). If you choose to wear tennis shoes you become a regular climber. Fire fighters ascend the stairs after all other climbers. Firefighters compete for special firefighter challenge awards and ascend the stairs after all other climbers.
VoLungteers
Event VoLungteers are welcomed. Register online as a Volungteer and you will be called about your VoLungteer assignment and arrival time for the event. VoLungteers receive an event t-shirt.

Event Day
Attire/Event T-shirt
Come dressed to climb, there are no changing facilities. It is suggested to wear comfortable clothing appropriate for a workout and athletic shoes. After completing the climb turn in your timing chip, pick-up your event t-shirt and enjoy the party!
Check-In - Climber and VoLungteer
Check-in is available as early as 9 a.m. Climbers register at climber check-in and pick up your timing chip. You will be directed to the stairwell entrance for the climb. Please make sure you know your start time.
VoLungteers check-in at the VoLungteer check-in for your t-shirt, instructions and assignment location. Please arrive 15min. before your assigned time.
Identification - Climber and VoLungteer
Each climber and VoLungteer will receive a wristband as identification to be worn at the event that allows entrance into the participant areas. It is required that climbers securely attach their bib number to the front of their t-shirt with the safety pins provided in their race packet. All climbers must display their bib during the event. VoLungteers must wear their VoLungteer t-shirt.
Security/Gear Check-In
All security procedures must be followed. Cousins Property managers will be at each EMS/Water Station and around the event to ensure your safety during the event. As part of the safety procedures, Cousins Property managers reserve the right to check all bags. Do not bring valuable belongings to the stair climb.
 
Climb
The climb starts at the stairwell street entrance, going up the building stairs through the lobby and 50 floors (1150 steps) to the top of One Ninety One Peachtree Tower. Slower climbers are to remain on the left, passing allowed on the right. At the official finish on the 50th floor, climbers are invited to the post climb celebration or can choose to descend by using the elevator to the lobby exit.
 
Start Time
Participants will climb in the order they line up.  This will allow groups who wish to climb the opportunity to do so. 
 
Timing
This race has interval start times of 10 seconds. Timing chips will be given to each climber at check-in. The chip must be attached below the knee with the zip tie provided. After finishing the climb, remove and return the chip to VoLungteers stationed to collect chips. Participants will be billed a fee of $30 for any unreturned chips.
 
EMS/Water Stations/Restrooms
Water is provided at the registration area, on several floors. For safety reasons, you must exit the stairwell to drink water or use the restrooms. Water is not permitted in the stairwell, but you may bring your own water backpack which can be used. EMS personnel will be available at the registration area and throughout the stairwell. In case of emergency, contact the closest stairwell monitor to reach the EMS personnel.

Awards Ceremony
Awards will be given to the fastest individual climbers and fire fighters. Team awards for largest, fastest and best fundraising will be presented one week after the event.
