Register as an individual or on a team by December 15th and your registration fee is only $25!
Elite climbers as those that can complete the stair climb in less than 9 minutes. Last year's fastest time was 6:54 for 56 floors! Those who would like to participate in the "Elite Climb" should note this in their registration. Please note: It is possible to be on a team and participate in the Elite Climb, but you will not be climbing with your team unless they are also all elite climbers.
Registration closes Thursday, February 25th at 2 p.m.
Participants must be at least 14 years old to run.
The carrying of infants and small children up the stairs is prohibited.
Every effort is made to ensure that start times are based up on the order of registration. One of the benefits of forming a team is that all team members will climb in consecutive order regardless of the order in which entries are received. Start times are assigned by date of registration.
Elite climbers must register for the elite climb prior to the event. All elite climbers will climb between 8:00 and 8:15 a.m.
Where can I find last year's results?
Unless you create a team with your friends, we cannot guarantee that you will climb with your friends. As the event gets closer and teams begin to fill up, start times will be assigned within a 5 minute window. Every person climbing, whether as an individual or as a team, will start every 8 seconds. Due to safety reasons, you cannot run or walk the stairs side by side. Due to the large number of participants, start time requests cannot be accommodated.

We also encourage you to continue to fundraise over the suggested $56 minimum until Tuesday, March 31, 2009 to reach our other incentive levels. Click here to see the list of incentive prizes. March 31, 2009
You may continue to collect pledges after event day. ALAC will determine eligibility for incentive prizes based on pledges received by March 31, 2009.
Why is there a pledge minimum?
As the largest fundraising event for the American Lung Association in Colorado, the work we do here would not be possible without our participants! The money raised from the Anthem Fight for Air Climb helps us fight for cures, clean air and smoke-free kids. In order to raise more funds for lung health overall, we are migrating the event to a fully pledge-based event. Since about two-thirds of our participants in past years either collected no pledges or collected less than $56, changing the requirement gives us the best chance to improve our income. Obviously in the current economy, it is tough on everyone, but also on charities, so we need to grow our successful campaigns if we are to meet our obligations for programs and research. We appreciate the funds you have previously raised for us. Having a fundraising minimum does put the focus on our priority for the event- to raise money to facilitate our work and programs for lung health.
The requirement is $56 in collected pledges in addition to the registration fee. Please feel free our office at 303-388-4327 if you have any further questions or want to talk about ways to reach this requirement. We'd be happy to help. Thank you very much for your support. Your efforts truly bring us one step and one breath closer to achieving our mission.
DAY OF EVENT INFORMATION
Free covered parking will be provided on event day. The parking garage is located at 15th & Tremont.
Gear check will be available at the event. Do not bring valuable belongings to the stair climb. Due to limited space, gear check must be minimal to ensure a speedy process. Please only utilize this service for items such as jackets, sweats and street shoes. Follow the signs to Gear Check on event day.
Run the Republic begins at 8:00 a.m. for Elite Climbers. Climbers take off at 8 second intervals creating staggered starts. The timing is professionally done using specially designed computer chips (worn on your shoe only). Water stations and medical personnel are provided in the concourse area and throughout the stairwells. The stairwells will be mopped with water one week prior to the event to eliminate dust.
At the finish line, you will be greeted with cheers and applause and immediately after you cross the timing mat, volunteers will ask you to stop for a moment so that your timing chip can be removed. You will then be taken to an area where you can rest for a minute, drink water and catch your breath!
Due to limited space, family and friends are not able to be at the finish line. We will have a video streaming down to the lobby where friends and family can watch you cross the finish line!
If you miss your start time there is a possibility that you can race after the last scheduled runner at the end of the day. However, this cannot be guaranteed. Please plan to arrive at the Republic Plaza at least one hour prior to your start line and be prepared to climb at the start line at least 20 minutes before your assigned time.
As a non-profit organization, the American Lung Association in Colorado considers the registration fee a donation and unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds.
It is suggested that you wear comfortable clothing appropriate for an intense cardio workout. Make sure you wear breathable fabric and proper shoes are essential. Running, walking or cross training shoes are key to a successful climb. The stairwells are extremely well ventilated and may be a little chilly when you start. However, you'll warm up quickly and welcome the cool air as you climb to the top!
It is required that you securely attach your bib number to the front of your shirt with the safety pins provided in your race packet or at the registration area. All climbers must display their bib number during the event.
All climbers should start their climb at their assigned start time. Please proceed to the starting line approximately 20 minutes prior to your designated time. Line monitors will assist you. Climbers will proceed in 8 second intervals. Start times are not flexible. Climbing the stairwells multiple times or going down the stairs is prohibited. You must take the elevator to return to the lobby level. You will not be permitted to exit the stairwell and walk into the building. You must exit at the provided exit points and with an escort.
Handrails are on the right - pass only on the left. Please remember, the Republic Plaza is a private office building and if you are unable to complete the climb, please contact security, volunteers or medical staff for assistance to be properly escorted. Do not exit on any floor without Brookfield Properties security personnel!
Although small cups of water are provided at designated rest stops in the stairwells, due to the strong ventilation and dry air we also suggest that you bring your own water pack with a little water for sipping to prevent dry mouth.
Medical staff will be on-site for those who need any assistance throughout the event. An ambulance with paramedic staff will also be on-site. Any volunteers can assist you and put you in contact with medical personnel.
Brookfield Properties staff (building managers) will be stationed throughout the building to ensure your safety. Staff, volunteers and Brookfield Properties security will have radio communication in case of an emergency. All security procedures must be followed.
If a medical staff member determines you should stop participation, you are absolutely required to stop, and not begin again unless authorized by the medical staff.
Lists of finish times will be printed out and posted approximately every 30 minutes in the lobby of the building. A website link that to take you to official finish times will be posted on www.runtherepublic.com 1-3 days after the event.
